Cargo & Freight Staff
Job Description
Cargo & Freight Staff are the logistical experts responsible for the ground-based processing and movement of air shipments. Working in high-volume warehouses and on the tarmac, they manage everything from luxury retail goods and pharmaceuticals to live animals and heavy machinery. They ensure that every pallet is weighed, documented, and loaded in compliance with strict aviation weight-and-balance and security regulations, acting as the critical link in the global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Shipment Processing: Receiving, weighing, and measuring incoming freight to ensure it matches digital manifests and aircraft capacity.
  • Documentation & Customs: Preparing and verifying international airway bills, dangerous goods declarations, and customs paperwork to ensure legal border crossings.
  • Build-Up & Loading: Strategically packing Unit Load Devices (ULDs) and pallets to maximize aircraft space while maintaining safe weight distribution.
  • Specialized Handling: Executing strict protocols for "special cargo," such as temperature-controlled vaccines, high-value bullion, or hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
  • Warehouse Security: Operating X-ray and screening equipment to ensure all cargo is free of prohibited items before it is cleared for flight.
