The Falconry Experience Specialist in Hospitality

Job Description
Falconry Experience Specialist in Hospitality is a professional raptor handler who provides elite, interactive "Sport of Kings" experiences for guests at luxury estates, resorts, and manor houses. This role requires a master-level understanding of birds of prey, combined with the poise of a high-end guest instructor. The specialist is responsible for the training, housing, and health of hawks, falcons, and owls, while curating safe, awe-inspiring flight demonstrations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Raptor Training & Husbandry: Managing the daily weight, diet, and fitness of the birds using traditional and modern falconry techniques.
  • Guest Instruction: Teaching guests how to properly hold a bird on a glove, understand "casting" techniques, and learn the history of falconry.
  • Demonstration Management: Executing breathtaking "free-flight" displays where birds fly to the glove or lure in front of resort audiences.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Handcrafting and maintaining specialized gear such as hoods, jesses, bells, and gloves to ensure both bird safety and luxury aesthetic.
  • Safety & Risk Mitigation: Constant monitoring of weather conditions and local wild predator activity to ensure the safety of the resident birds and guests during outdoor sessions.

Salary Explanation
The salary for a Falconry Specialist reflects the high level of technical skill, years of apprenticeship, and the niche nature of the craft within the hospitality sector.
  • Average Salary: Full-time specialists at luxury estates typically earn between $48,000 and $65,000 annually.
  • Freelance/Contract Rates: Independent falconers who bring their own birds to properties for events often charge $500 to $1,500 per day.
  • Senior Positions: Head Falconers at historic estates or world-renowned resorts can earn $70,000 to $90,000+, especially if they manage a breeding program or a larger team.
  • Package Perks: Because the birds require 24/7 monitoring, many properties provide on-site housing and specialized facilities (weathering grounds) as part of the compensation.
