The Santuari de Meritxell in Canillo, Andorra, is the nation's most important Roman Catholic site and spiritual heart, dedicated to the patron saint, Our Lady of Meritxell. Following a 1972 fire, the new sanctuary was designed by architect Ricardo Bofill, inaugurated in 1976, and blends modern architecture with Romanesque, Gothic, and Catalan-Mudéjar styles.
