Ganvie

Ganvie (The Lake City): This extraordinary village on stilts in Lake Nokoué was founded by the Tofinu people in the 17th century. Today, it is home to over 20,000 residents and features floating markets, schools, and churches all accessible only by wooden pirogue.

Ouidah

Known as the "Voodoo Heart" of West Africa, Ouidah houses the Temple of Pythons, where sacred snakes roam freely. It is also home to the Route des Esclaves and the Gate of No Return, a poignant memorial at the ocean's edge where enslaved Africans were forced onto ships.

Abomey

The Royal Palaces of Abomey (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) showcase the history of the powerful Dahomey Kingdom. Visitors can explore ancient throne rooms and museums housing artifacts of the 12 kings who once ruled from here.

Pendjari National Park

Located in the north, this is arguably West Africa’s best wildlife reserve, offering safaris to see lions, elephants, hippos, and cheetahs.

Cotonou

The economic capital offers the massive Dantokpa Market, West Africa’s largest open-air market, and the colorful Notre Dame Cathedral.
