The Boyana Church is a UNESCO World Heritage site located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain on the outskirts of Sofia, Bulgaria. Renowned for its exceptionally preserved 13th-century frescoes (painted in 1259) that predate the Renaissance, the church consists of three buildings constructed between the 10th and 19th centuries. It is a premier example of Eastern European medieval art.
