Choeung Ek Genocidal Center (also known as the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek) is a former orchard and mass grave site 17km south of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where the Khmer Rouge executed and buried roughly 8,895 victims between 1975 and 1979. Now a memorial park, it serves as a sobering reminder of the genocide that claimed over 1 million lives.
