Ganvié is a historic, 17th-century stilt village on Lake Nokoué in southern Benin, often called the "Venice of Africa". Founded by the Tofinu people to escape Fon slave traders, it is Africa's largest floating village with over 20,000 residents. The community thrives on fishing, utilizing canoes for transport, and features schools, markets, and homes built entirely on water.
