Minsk-1 was Minsk's original city airport, operating from 1933 until its closure in December 2015 due to noise, with its site now being redeveloped for residential/commercial use (Minsk-City) and metro expansion, while the current main airport is the larger Minsk National Airport (MSQ), located east of the city and serving as the primary hub for Belarus. Minsk National (Minsk-2) handles all major flights, offering modern facilities like lounges, shops, and various transport links, contrasting with Minsk-1's former role for domestic and short-haul flights.
