The Pet Grooming Stylist in Hospitality

Job Description
Pet Grooming Stylist in Hospitality provides high-end aesthetic and hygiene services for pets staying at luxury hotels or visiting resort day-spas. Unlike a high-volume retail groomer, a hospitality stylist focuses on a "spa-like" experience, offering personalized consultations and premium treatments like blueberry facials, paw-dicures, and de-shedding therapy. They ensure that four-legged guests look and smell pristine, reflecting the resort’s luxury standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Full-Service Styling: Performing breed-standard cuts, creative grooming, bathing, drying, and nail trimming with expert precision.
  • Health Assessments: Conducting "skin and coat" checks during intake to identify issues like hot spots, parasites, or lumps, and reporting them to the owner.
  • Safety & Handling: Utilizing low-stress handling techniques to ensure anxious pets remain calm throughout the grooming process.
  • Equipment & Sanitation: Maintaining a sterilized, "resort-ready" grooming studio and managing high-end shears, clippers, and hydro-massage tubs.
  • Guest Consultation: Meeting with owners to discuss styling preferences, coat maintenance, and recommending retail products from the hotel’s boutique.

Salary Explanation
Salaries for Pet Grooming Stylists in hospitality are often a combination of a base wage and high commission rates, common in the luxury service industry.
  • Base Salary: Typically ranges from $35,000 to $50,000 annually for staff roles at dedicated pet-friendly resorts.
  • Commission & Tips: Stylists often earn 50%–60% of the grooming fee per pet, plus gratuities. In a luxury setting, this can push total earnings to $65,000–$80,000+.
  • Master Stylist Premium: Those with certifications (such as National Dog Groomers Association of America) or expertise in "show clips" can command significantly higher service prices.
  • Equipment Allowance: Some properties provide all tools and supplies, while others offer a stipend for stylists to maintain their own professional-grade equipment.
