The Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation is a small but powerful institution in downtown Nassau dedicated to the history of the transatlantic slave trade and its impact on The Bahamas.

Historical Significance

Site of Auction: The museum is housed in Vendue House, one of Nassau's oldest structures (dating back to at least 1784). This historic building originally served as a marketplace where goods—and human beings—were sold.
