Ta Prohm, located near Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a 12th-century Mahayana Buddhist monastery famous for being left in its overgrown,, "managed ruin" state, with giant silk-cotton and fig tree roots snaking through its stone ruins. Built by King Jayavarman VII in 1186 as a temple dedicated to his mother, it is a key UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "Tomb Raider" temple.
